A beautiful, tall-standing native of California that belongs to the sunflower family, California Mugwort creates expanding clusters spread both through seeds and root systems, highlighting one of this plant's most attractive qualities- erosion control. California Mugwort starts as small, leaf-filled plants, quickly growing up to 5 feet tall while it's leaves becomes smaller and more scattered . Ranging from late summer to earlywinter, the stalks of these plants yeild a series of strong-scented, yellow flowers that atttract a plethora of native pollinators and bees. The leaves and flower heads of this plant yield medicinal and spiritual properties- with bundles of California Mugwort being burned in indigenous ceremonies and rituals. This plant will grow and spread quickly along water edges, and has a medium-growth rate when grown in gardens or dry areas.
