The California Poppy is a cheerful wildflower with silky, cup-shaped blooms in golden orange (sometimes yellow or even lighter tones). The foliage is blue-green and finely divided. It grows well in sunny, open spots and often blankets hillsides or disturbed ground. It tends to self-seed, so once established it can pop up year after year with minimal care.

  • •Great for pollinators (bees, butterflies) when in bloom—flowers are easy for them to visit.

•Helps brighten landscapes and fill in gaps—especially in poor or dry soils where many plants struggle.

•Since it self-seeds, it supports growing wildflower patches which add seasonal interest and color.
