A sprawling perennial in the rose family and native to the NorthEastern U.S., common cinquefoil spreads through above-ground runners & brandishes small, bright yellow flowers accompanied by 5-toothed, dark green leaves. It makes a great lightweight ground cover for open fields, granite or rocky slopes, and disturbed soils. It thrives in part to full-shade or full sun when underneath dense, taller plants.
