Coyote Brush is an evergreen shrub native to California and nearby coastal regions. It has small oval leaves—green and slightly sticky—and can grow either as a low spreading groundcover or a taller, upright shrub up to about 6-10 feet depending on the form. In late summer to fall, it produces fluffy clusters of small white (or yellowish) flowers on separate male and female plants. It holds its green leaves all year in mild climates.

  • •Provides nectar and pollen for pollinators (bees, butterflies, native flies), especially in autumn when fewer plants are blooming.

•Offers shelter and cover for small wildlife and birds; evergreen leaves give habitat year-round.

•Good for erosion control on slopes and banks, especially with prostrate or mat-forming varieties.
