Field Garlic is a very common prolific allium species from Europe; though the nutrient density of field garlic greens & bulbs are far superior to any store-bought vegetable. It will spreads rapidly through its bulbs, so field garlic is only added as an intentionally harvested crop; harvest before or during going to seed. The plant grows as individual bulbs and small clumps depending on the compaction of the soil; and the leaves transform into hollow 12-18 in tall stalks showcasing brilliant purple flowers followed by clusters of red-purple bulbils (new mini bulbs) that will spread more plants the following season. The longer you wait to harvest, the bigger & more numerous the bulbs will be.
