A dainty woodland groundcover, Claytonia sibirica has fleshy, bright green leaves and charming little flowers that are white or pale pink with darker pink stripes. The blooms appear in spring (sometimes continuing into summer) in moist, shaded woods or streambanks. It spreads by seed and short underground roots, forming soft mats. Its look is delicate but lush in the right shady, moist spot.
