This is one of my first recommendations for any property with wetlands or ponds. Wapato is one of many keystone aquatic species throughout the NorthEast; and the roots & flowers were eaten as staple foods by countless indigenous cultures throughout the Eastern U.S and Canada. Showcasing captivating white flowers amongst broad arrow shaped leaves as they grow up and above water features. And come Fall or early Winter, the tubers provide an abundant crop for humans and animals alike.
