Yerba Buena (Spanish for “good herb”) is a low-growing, creeping herb in the mint family. It forms a soft, aromatic mat of small rounded, slightly scalloped leaves, rarely rising more than a few inches. In moist, shaded woodlands along the Pacific coast, it blankets forest floors. Flowers are small, white (sometimes with a hint of lavender or pink), appearing in the axils of leaves in spring-to-summer.

•Works great as a groundcover in shady woodland gardens, helping suppress weeds and retain soil moisture.
•The aromatic foliage is loved by pollinators — small bees and insects visit the flowers.
•Because it spreads via creeping stems, it can help with soil stabilization in the understory, especially on slopes and shady banks.
